Number 13 holds no fear for charity!
Organisers of Northamptonshire’s favourite annual fundraising bike ride are confident that the county’s two-wheelers will ignore superstition and sign up in their droves to take part in this year’s Cycle 4 Cynthia, despite it being its thirteenth anniversary!
The event, which has raised more than a third of a million pounds over the last twelve years, is being launched at the home of Northampton Saints, Franklin’s Gardens, at 6.30pm on Wednesday 10th February.
The launch will celebrate the achievements of the 1100 riders of all shapes and sizes, ages and abilities who donned their lycra to take part in the 2015 ride at Althorp last autumn, including revealing the total amount they raised in sponsorship, of which every penny will go to support the invaluable work of Cynthia Spencer Hospice.
It will also see the presentation of trophies for the largest corporate team to take part, most money raised by an individual and best fancy dress being made by Saints coach Jim Mallinder and TV presenter and recent ‘Hello’ magazine cover girl Natalie Pinkham, whose father John founded the ride.
Among those already pledging to be involved is Jay Roan from Northampton design agency Studio One and he is encouraging both serious riders and those who pedal for pleasure to leap into their saddles; “Coincidentally we had thirteen riders take part in our team last year and that was our fifth year running so it’s now something of a permanent fixture in our calendar” explained Jay.
“It’s such a great day to be part of because not only is cycling so enjoyable and involves our riding around some wonderful countryside, but also it’s great knowing we’re helping such a deserving cause, so I’d urge everyone to show their support by taking part and experience that buzz” he added.
Details of this year’s ride will be announced at the launch and thereafter will be on this website – www.cycle4cynthia.com - and on our Facebook page.
Anyone wishing to take part in the ride, including individuals, families or teams from businesses or organisations, is cordially invited to attend the launch at Franklin’s Gardens at 6.30pm on Wednesday 10th February.
