Jim Mallinder launches Cycle4Cynthia 2013
The ride has raised almost a quarter of a million pounds for its two benefiting charities - The Friends of Cynthia Spencer Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support in the county - over the past nine years and is being launched for its tenth anniversary at Franklin’s Gardens at 6pm on Wednesday 6th February.
Jim, who rode the 50 mile distance with his son Harry at Althorp last September and who will be presenting the prizes for the largest team, biggest fundraiser, best fancy dress, and most importantly the cheques to the two charities, is encouraging county businesses to show their support.
“Being among more than a thousand riders who took part last year was a really special experience,” explained Jim. “Not only did we have a great time, pedalling around some of the most beautiful parts of the county, but we also felt we were really helping these two wonderful causes that do such vital work.
“I would urge as many companies as possible to get a team together and take part and I shall certainly be trying to spur on more of the gang from Franklin’s Gardens to join me and leap into their saddles this year!”
Cycle 4 Cynthia 2013, offering riders 5, 25 or 50 mile routes, is taking place on Sunday 22nd September at Althorp by kind permission of the Earl and Countess Spencer.
Any businesses wishing to take part are cordially invited to attend the launch event at Franklin’s Gardens on Wednesday 6th February.
