Earl Spencer looks forward to this weekend’s Cycle4Cynthia as charity ride returns to Althorp
Earl Spencer, Patron of Cynthia Spencer Hospice, which is named after his late Grandmother, is looking forward to cyclists from around the county coming together once again to take part in Cycle4Cynthia, the charity’s biggest fundraising event, at Althorp on Sunday 25th September.
Earl Spencer will officially start Cycle4Cynthia’s 5 mile route which, for the first time this year, is on completely closed roads - and mostly within the Althorp Estate - making it even safer for little ones. And the Cynthia Spencer Hospice team are also delighted to have the support of local BBC Radio legend John Griff who will officially start the other three routes – 10, 25 and 50 miles.
Earl Spencer commented:
“Everyone at Althorp looks forward to Cycle4Cynthia – it’s a wonderful, fun event, with a fantastic atmosphere, which raises a substantial amount for one of the county’s most-loved charities, Cynthia Spencer Hospice, I’m greatly looking forward to it.”
John Griff said:
“Cynthia Spencer Hospice has had such a big impact on the lives of so many people across Northamptonshire. As someone who has ridden in Cycle4Cynthia on more than one occasion, I’m delighted to be supporting this year’s event, it being the hospice’s flagship fundraiser, raising well over £500,000 since it began. I wish all the riders well and am sure it will raise lots of vitally important money for such a worthy cause.”
James Linnell, a regular participant in Cycle4Cynthia after his father received care from the Hospice team in 2010, said:
“We’re delighted that the event can go ahead this year at the beautiful Althorp Estate. Our whole family have taken part for many years to raise vital funds for the hospice who provided exceptional care to my late father.”
Participants can register and collect their rider packs on Saturday 24th September from the charity’s Fundraising Office at Pondwood House, Pondwood Close, Moulton Park, Northampton NN3 6RT between 9am and 12noon and from 8am on the day of the event.
Registration for the event will open from 8am on Sunday 25th September so cyclists can register on the day.
