C4C 2010 – Sywell firm makes plans for cycling success!
Who better to make the perfect preparations for a new fundraising adventure than Sywell firm SSR Planning. The company, which is one of the regions leading town planning and development consultancies, is shaping up to take part in this years Cycle4Cynthia for the very first time. The event, which raises money for two charities providing care and support for people with cancer and cancer-related illness in Northamptonshire - The Friends of Cynthia Spencer Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support - is scheduled for Sunday, September 26th.
Said Simon J Smith, SSR Plannings Managing Director “Weve taken part in other local charity events in the last few years and our staff have really enjoyed the team spirit that they instil. Were really pleased to be able to support and help contribute to worthy causes so this year we decided we just had to get involved with Cycle4Cynthia and do our bit to raise funds for two such valuable charities whilst getting fit at the same time!”
Cycle4Cynthia 2010 will, for the third year running, link up with the Saints and the events three routes - five, 25 and 50 miles in length – will start and finish at the clubs home ground, Franklins Gardens.
The SSR Planning team will be cycling the 25 mile route, but one of its members, Guy Banham may tackle the 50 miles. That, he says will be an easy task, compared with his most recent ride/ / “Earlier this month I cycled from John OGroats to Lands End for Macmillan and while Im still a little saddle sore from that trip, I couldnt resist signing up for this wonderful event! Some of my colleagues havent been on bikes for decades so well be a pretty mixed bag of cyclists but that doesnt matter – its about having fun and raising as much money as we can!”
Sue Bownass, from the Friends of Cynthia Spencer Hospice, commented, “The countys businesses played such an important part in our record-breaking fundraising last year and its great to have new teams signing up already. To maintain our exceptional quality of care, we have to raise £650,000 a year through fundraising activities and charitable donations. I know that, with the support of more firms like SSR Planning, we will achieve it.”
Meanwhile Marcus Cox, who is Macmillan Cancer Support s new fundraising manager for Northamptonshire added “I want to say a massive thank you to SSR Planning for getting involved. The charity has an annual target of £518,000 for the county alone and so the event is a key fundraiser for us, helping us to maintain the services we provide to the community. I would encourage other businesses to do the same and come and enjoy a great day out!”
